Country lore and historical record

2014 AD: The Silver Thaw Revolution

For eighty years, Verdia existed only as a neglected mining province under the iron-fisted Hegemony of Oros. The revolution didn't begin with a grand declaration, but with a silent protest on March 12, 2014, known as the "Day of Broken Tools." The Catalyst: After the Orosian Governor diverted the province’s entire winter food reserve to the capital, Verdia’s miners refused to descend into the shafts. They didn't pick up weapons; they simply sat at the gates in sub-zero temperatures. The Turning Point: On May 20, 2014, the Hegemony sent the 4th Infantry to break the strike. However, in a stunning act of defiance, the Orosian soldiers—many of whom had formed bonds with the locals—turned their banners upside down, refusing to fire. Independence: The sudden military collapse forced the Hegemony to the negotiating table. On July 4, 2014, the Treaty of Verdant Crowns was signed, establishing Verdia as a sovereign, independent kingdom. Today, the "Broken Hammer" remains the national symbol of Verdia, representing the moment a people’s refusal to work became their greatest power.
