Valocasia
Republic of Valocasia
A long-standing merchant republic, Valocasia is a large city-state that stands tall in the mountains overlooking the glistening Valo Channel.
The first settlers, from the east, arrive and settle on the coastline of Valo Channel.
20 years after the first settlers arrived, the first members of the Casia Tribe settle in the mountains above the Channel, creating a fortress they called Valocasia after the Channel and their tribe.
A long-voyaged band of vikings conquers Valocasia and kills most of the native population. The few members of the Casia tribe who are left mostly intermarry with their Nordic invaders.
The last full-blooded member of the Casia Tribe, Joannes Casiannes, dies of old age, marking the end of an era.
Following war, devastation overtakes Valocasia, creating the backdrop by which the Communists will take over many years later.
Following foreign intervention from unknown sources, communists take over Valocasia and enforce a harsh regime that nearly destroys Valocasia.
After a long famine, a band of merchants revolts and overthrows the Communist government of Valocasia.
Valocasia enters it's first days as a Merchant Republic following the Merchant's Revolution.

National Mood
The political mood of this country is shaping how citizens feel about the issues. Click a mood to learn more.
Triggered when a constitutional change removes the vote from a significant share of the electorate. While this mood is active, the bar for restoring the franchise is halved, and a package that only restores voting rights can be opened even during the usual constitutional-change cooldown. It lasts 180 days, the clock resets if the franchise is restricted again during that time, and it cannot end while too few people are eligible to hold an election. It does not skew elector positions or change salience.
Called by the head of government or the monarch, or held automatically in a new country's first year. For one year the usual constitutional-change cooldown is suspended, so a new package can be opened as soon as the previous one closes, and the cost of opening a constitutional change package is capped at 75 PP however many changes it contains. Only one package can be open for voting at a time and voting thresholds are unchanged. Once the convention ends, another cannot be called for 10 years. It does not skew elector positions or change salience — its effects are purely on the constitutional change mechanics.
