Building a Stronger Sveria – Budget

Rationale

Prepared by the Ministry of Finance, this budget reflects the government’s commitment to responsible economic management during a period of exceptional external expenditure. While temporary national investment programmes place additional pressure on the public finances, this budget prioritises long-term growth over short-term politics. By strengthening investment in infrastructure, supporting businesses, encouraging private investment through a more competitive tax system and maintaining essential public services, we are laying the foundations for higher productivity, stronger economic growth and better-paid jobs across Sveria. The modest reduction in retirement spending reflects recent structural reforms designed to improve the long-term sustainability of the pension system. This budget recognises that temporary deficits can be justified when they finance productive investment rather than permanent expansion of government. As exceptional costs diminish, the government remains fully committed to restoring stronger public finances and reducing the national debt over the long term.
