“The WDA also rejects the economic priorities represented by the NLL and National Development. In our view, their approach too often puts the interests of large financial institutions and wealthy interests ahead of working people. Our government should not be designed around protecting the powerful; it should be designed around giving ordinary citizens greater economic security and a stronger voice in their own future. The Workers Democratic Alliance has reviewed the proposed budget and will vote YES. This budget asks less from low and middle-income workers while asking more from those with the greatest ability to contribute. It invests in healthcare, education, housing, retirement, and social welfare while strengthening our public services. A small deficit can be justified when it finances vital public investment and strengthens services that improve people's lives. Long Live Sacred Sveria!”
2024 'Embrace the Deficit' Budget
Proposed by Sveria Socialists United · Passed 13 Dec 2024
Rationale
It is time that the Sverian state finally provides for its people, without having to worry about budgetary constraints! For a long time, the governments of Sveria have been averse to having a deficit budget as a result of strict adherence to Surplurian economics. This has come at the cost of the ordinary Sverian. The SSU, in its new government, reject this absolutely! We will provide for our people, even if it sends us into deficit, as that is the primary duty of the state! We will enact some form of wealth redistribution, taxing high and elite earners more of their long-awaited due while also reducing the burden on middle and low income. This deficit will be temporary, as when the AI project expires, the budget shall go into surplus. However we cannot wait anymore. The people of Sveria demand this!
Figures show the previous budget where they changed the new value.
