Amendments

Add an amendment: “This amendment establishes a procedure for legislative override of presidenti…”
This amendment establishes a procedure for legislative override of presidential vetoes on duly passed bills. Section 2 – Veto Submission Any bill passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives and subsequently vetoed by the President shall be returned to the Senate for reconsideration. Section 3 – Override Authority The Senate may override the presidential veto if the bill receives a simple majority vote of at least 61 out of 100 Senators in favor of the bill upon reconsideration. Section 4 – Effect of Override Upon successful override, the bill shall become law without further action by the President.
Presidential Veto Override Procedure Amendment: This amendment ensures that laws supported by both the Senate and House are not permanently blocked by a single executive veto. It strengthens democratic accountability by allowing the Senate to reconsider and pass a bill with a simple majority of 61/100. This maintains executive input through the veto while preventing excessive executive control and reducing legislative deadlock, ensuring smoother and more responsive governance.

Proposer's case

This amendment establishes a process for the Senate to override a presidential veto on legislation that has already passed both the Senate and the House of Representatives. If the President vetoes a bill, the Senate may reconsider it and pass it into law with a simple majority vote of at least 61 out of 100 Senators, after which the bill becomes law without further presidential approval.
