We’re spending just $23 a person on the climate—nine-tenths of us are below the median of other countries, and they spend $257 a person while we scrimp and beg for scraps. We don’t need austerity; we need to step up and match the rest of the world with at least $180 a person so our kids inherit a planet that isn’t on fire.
The numbers behind the demand

“Dear fellow citizens, it has always been our duty to defend the interests of the people, whilst not neglecting the needs of the nation. Consequently, in recent years we have had to cut a large number of budget items relating to the environment, as they were costly and inefficient. Undoubtedly, our aim is to increase the funding allocated to this issue, but we cannot, in doing so, upset the balance of the national budget. Remember that the higher the debt, the lower the quality of life; and, following this pattern, the currency will depreciate and the environment will become a secondary concern, as priority will have been given to problems that have now been eradicated thanks to the leadership of the Optimates Fasci.”
