Necessary changes to the constitution for the future of Novograd

Constitutional Convention In session

In session until the 19th of October 2025. The amendment cooldown is suspended, so a new package can be opened as soon as the previous one closes, and no package costs more than 75 PP to open.

We the people of Novograd do hereby establish this Constitution.

Name of the State

Art. I

The official name of the state shall be the Socialist Republic of Novograd, known commonly as Novograd.

Constitutional Changes

Art. II

This Constitution may be amended only by a supermajority vote of greater than two thirds of all seats of the Worker's Congress . No amendment shall take effect within 1 year of any previous amendment, nor may any amendment be proposed while another remains under debate. The constitution was last changed on the 15th of May 2018 (6 years ago).

Suffrage

Art. III

The right to vote shall belong to every adult resident: universal adult suffrage.

Monarchy

Art. IV

Novograd does not have a monarchy.

The Supreme Court

Art. V

The Supreme Court of Novograd shall be the final arbiter of the law of Novograd. Any party may appeal to it on the ground that a law in force is unconstitutional, that a cabinet member or the holder of an elected office is acting illegally, or that a constitutional amendment is invalid. The Court shall hear the parties of Novograd, and its justices shall rule by majority. Its rulings take direct effect and are not subject to appeal.

The Worker's Congress shall comprise 100 seats, directly elected by the people every 48 months. Art. VII
