“While not optimal, we can support this budget for the time being.”
Welfare First Budget
Proposed by Belvarian Forward League · Passed 13 Oct 2022
Rationale
While the Belvarian Forward League strongly urges for a free and fair market, we recognise that there is no need to harshly tax our citizens. Moreover, it is not needed to keep such a vast surplus of nearly a trillion dollars. Rather, a more reasonable surplus of a little over 480 billion dollars will still permit the Belvarian economy to thrive, while granting more benefits to every single citizen of Belvaria. Tax rates for Medium earners will match the requested pledge, and expenditure on social welfare will remain high. The ground reality is, Belvarian satisfaction is at a historical low, and we must rush to fix it. There is no greater cause than the happiness of Belvarian people, and the safety of the Belvarian people. Long live Belvaria, long live its democracy! We urge all parties participating in the Belvarian political discourse to recognise this budget as a fair and rational budget, and allow it to pass.
