Cut income tax for low earners

Issued by the voters of Marianne on March 1, 2022.

Twenty-five percent on the lowest earners is a scandal when our peers charge just twenty percent—five points higher than it should be! How can anyone on poverty wages possibly get by when the government takes a quarter of every euro they scrape together, while the rest of the world asks for a fairer twenty?

Off the hook

“Our party recognizes that taxing low-income earners at 25% is an unfair burden on working families. Upon securing a mandate, our immediate priority will be delivering the Working Families Tax Relief Act, permanently capping the lowest tax bracket at 20% in our first legislative session. To maintain fiscal responsibility without cutting essential public services we shall tax the higher earners greater, aswell as offsetting this rate reduction by streamlining inefficient corporate subsidies and enacting targeted measures on high-end real estate speculation. Putting money back into the pockets of low earners directly boosts local consumer spending, stimulates small businesses, and restores basic fairness to our economy. We pledge to treat this reform as an immediate, binding commitment—ensuring that no citizen on poverty wages is forced to give up a quarter of their paycheck to the state.”
