Forty percent is highway robbery for the people who actually create the wealth in this country—let them keep five percent and watch how much faster Fjordheim grows. Penalising success with confiscatory taxes isn’t fairness, it’s spite, and we’re done funding other people’s envy while our best are driven off to greener shores.

“If elected to the presidency, the Libertarian Alliance would propose a single 5% income-tax rate for all earners, regardless of income. Our aim would be to create a simple, predictable tax system that leaves substantially more income in the hands of individuals and reduces the role of government in directing economic activity. Under this approach, the state would rely less on high compulsory taxation and more on a smaller public sector, personal responsibility, private initiative and market competition. We would present the reform openly, alongside the spending reductions and budget changes required to make such a tax rate sustainable.”
