Liberal Platform
Voted Oct. 28, 2024
No

“The Liberal Platform votes no. This is the second attempt at compulsory national identification in Wëlstere's short history, and our answer has not changed: Wëlsterers who want an ID card can already get one voluntarily; making it mandatory only forces those who value staying unregistered to carry state papers, with no new benefit to show for it. The independent police oversight body in Article 2 is a reform we genuinely support — in fact, it is already part of our own Police Accountability and Due Process Act, soon to come before this Chamber on its own merits. We won't accept good policy bundled with bad as a package deal when we can deliver the good policy ourselves, cleanly.”
