“C&F will oppose this bill. Excessive regulation can only be justified during economic crises or when speculation spirals out of control, which is currently not the case. Otherwise, all it achieves is reducing economic flexibility and discouraging investment and growth.”

“The current light-touch regulation is what allows this sector to be in excellent health, as economic data show: more growth means more work and more taxes paid to the State. A strong oversight is needed during times of financial crisis or to halt speculation, but that is not currently the case. For these reasons, we cannot support this bill.”
