Rationale

A free press is essential in any democratic country: journalists need to be free to do their work without living with fear of getting sued whenever their work dissatisfies powerful individuals or companies. Fines for defamation will still be imposed, but only for serious cases and after a trial.

Proposed Changes

1

Media Censorship Policy
Previous law
Targeted regulation (post-publication fines for incitement/defamation; independent regulator)
