Rationale

This proposal aims to enshrine a simple principle in our Constitution: violence is for barbarians. Death penalty and physical punishment are prohibited already but only via ordinary law, which is easily amendable. Furthermore, this bill guarantees stronger protection for both children and refugees.

Proposed Changes

1

Capital Punishment
Previous law
No death penalty
Death penalty constitutionally prohibited; extradition refused to countries that use it

2

Corporal Punishment
Previous law
Corporal punishment banned in justice system and schools
