Proposer's case
In a democracy, power should rest with those elected by the people, not with unelected bureaucrats. This reform strengthens democratic accountability by ensuring that key executive decisions are made by ministers and the Chancellor, who can be held directly responsible by Parliament and the voters. It increases transparency, reinforces democratic legitimacy, and ensures that those entrusted with governing have the authority to carry out the mandate given to them by the people.
