No

“A recession is real pressure, and we won't pretend otherwise — but weakening carbon pricing to soften one quarter's numbers asks the same question every deregulation bill asks: who pays so the headline looks better? A moderate economy-wide rate removes the border adjustment protecting domestic jobs from unpriced imports, and drops any return to households, right as the cost of living is the thing people actually feel. ASTER has never voted to trade protection for optics, and we're not starting during a downturn, when the temptation is highest and the scrutiny lowest. If this economy needs breathing room, we'd rather find it the way we already proposed: taxing the wealthiest more, not asking the climate, workers, and low earners to absorb a bad quarter quietly. ASTER votes No.”

Yes

“This will give some breathing room to the economy, which is needed. Economy growth has been negative for multiple months, which will mean we cannot sustainably fund our welfare state as it is if we continue like this. Pragmatic solutions are needed, which is why we support this bill.”

“ABF supports practical environmental policy, but a high carbon price should not undermine Fjordheim’s competitiveness or place unnecessary costs on households and businesses. A moderate economy-wide rate keeps a price on emissions while supporting growth and economic stability.”
