Budget for Retirees

Proposed by Revolutionary Socialist Union · Voting closes 4 Feb 2025

🗳️ Open for voting

Rationale

The government's budget, led by the Alliance party, is anti-pensioners; pensioners deserve a decent budget, not this kind of misery. This budget seeks to fix that problem without changing anything else, neither taxes nor other tax brackets. Yes, debt will be a problem, but what's more important? Debt or pensioners? Obviously all citizens of Costavela deserve their share, including pensioners, not just a few. With this budget, I seek to raise awareness among the parties that voted for the previous budget. The retirees will be witnessing this vote, and for those who vote against it, remember, the retirees will remember it forever

Proposed changes

  • Increase spending on retirement from $91.5bn to $136.0bn

This will increase total budgeted spending by $44.5bn annually.

This will move the budget from an annual surplus of $3.8bn to an annual deficit of $40.7bn.

A budget passes once every legislature reaches its threshold, and fails immediately if a majority votes against. If neither happens, it resolves when voting closes.
