Constitutional Convention

The head of government or the monarch can call a year-long convention. While it sits, the amendment cooldown is suspended and no package costs more than 75 PP to open.

Constitutional Changes
Art. II
This Constitution may be amended only by a supermajority vote of greater than two thirds of all seats of the House of Representatives and greater than two thirds of all seats of the Senate . No amendment shall take effect within 0 years of any previous amendment, nor may any amendment be proposed while another remains under debate.✏️ The constitution was last changed on the 4th of December 2024 (18 days ago).
Suffrage
Art. III
The right to vote shall belong to every adult resident: universal adult suffrage. ✏️
Elected Offices
Art. IV
The Presidency🔒 shall be directly elected by the people every 6 months. If no candidate wins more than half the votes, the top 2 candidates go to a run-off the next day. This office holder shall be the Head of Government. The House of Representatives may call a vote of no confidence in the Presidency, requiring 67% of those voting to pass. Monarchy

The Supreme Court
Art. VI
The Supreme Court of Broadlands shall be the final arbiter of the law of Broadlands. Any party may appeal to it on the ground that a law in force is unconstitutional, that a cabinet member or the holder of an elected office is acting illegally, or that a constitutional amendment is invalid. The Court shall hear the parties of Broadlands, and its justices shall rule by majority. Its rulings take direct effect and are not subject to appeal. 🔒

Amendments
Art. XIV
Every citizen of Broadlands, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion or background shall be given an equal vote towards the national election, as well as their respective regional elections. ✏️
Art. XV
No person under the jurisdiction of Broadlands shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. ✏️
Art. XVI
All persons born or naturalized in Broadlands, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of Broadlands and of the State wherein they reside. ✏️
Art. XVII
The retirement age shall be calculated as follows:

Retirement age = (Average age * 1.85 + (18 * Dependency Ratio))/(1 + Dependency Ratio)

where,
Dependency Ratio = Seniors/Working age population
and this shall not exceed 1:3. If the dependency ratio worsens, 1:3 shall be used.
